What is a Perfect Number?
All numbers ought to be perfect but a special category of numbers are categorized as Perfect.
Here is the short explanation:
To test if a number is Perfect, you begin by finding all the numbers that your number can be divided with. And then you add all the numbers that your number can be divided with - and if they all add up to your number, then... it's a Perfect Number.
It's probably easier to try it for real, so let's try a few:
Is 6 a Perfect number?
First: Which numbers can 6 be devided by: 6 can be devided by 1, 2, and 3.
Then: We add those numbers: 1 + 2 + 3 = 6 - so 6 is a Perfect Number.
How about 8 - is it Perfect?
8 can be devided by 1, 2, and 4.
Adding those 1 + 2 + 4 = 7 - which is not 8, so 8 is not a Perfect Number.
How about 15 - a Perfect number?
15 can be devided by 1, 3, and 5, which - when you add them - make 9.
So 15 is not a Perfect Number.
How about 28 - is that Perfect?
28 can be devided by 1, 2, 4, 7, and 14.
Adding 1 + 2 + 4+ 7+ 14 = 28 - so yes, 28 is Perfect.
