Perfect Numbers Day

All numbers ought to be perfect, but some numbers are categorized as Perfect Numbers.

What is a Perfect Number?

To test if a number is Perfect, you figure out all the numbers that your number can be divided with. And then you add all the numbers that your number can be divided with - and if they all add up to your number, then... it's a Perfect Number.

Sounds tricky, yes - let's try a few:

Is 6 a Perfect number?

First: Which numbers can 6 be devided by: 6 can be devided by 1, 2, and 3.

Then: We add those numbers: 1 + 2 + 3 = 6 - so 6 is a Perfect Number.

How about 8?

8 can be devided by 1, 2, and 4.

Adding those 1 + 2 + 4 = 7 - which is not 8, so 8 is not a Perfect Number.

How about 15?

15 can be devided by 1, 3, and 5, which - when you add them - make 9.

So 15 is not a Perfect Number.

How about 28?

28 can be devided by 1, 2, 4, 7, and 14.

Adding 1 + 2 + 4+ 7+ 14 = 28 - so yes, 28 is Perfect.

28 and 6 are both Perfect Numbers,
therefore
